March 1925THE HARD TACK PROPERTY, worked by the Hard Tack Mining Company, lies approximately 2 miles northwest of Johannesburg.  The property is developed by a vertical shaft 135 feet deep, and by 350 feet of drifts along a level at a depth of 105 feet.  This work has been carried out in the hope of picking up an old vein  from which a small production is reported to have been made in the past years.  A number of old workings exist on the property.”  -  Hulin
