Mitchel & Goodhart In the 1898 Business Directory Mitchel & Goodhart were listed as being manufacturers of furniture, etc. The Etc. during this period of our history usually included casket making. This was a profession that the Rand Mining District was sorely lacking. In fact John Mahoney in a letter to his sweetheart Miss Pearl Robinson in January of 1907 gave the following description of Constable John Arnold’s funeral: “the wheels of the wagons that were in the funeral were one solid wheel of snow it looked like a wheel of flowers in a 4th of July Parade they used a box for a coffin and an old express wagon for a hearse.”
