STAGES

Survey number:      Owner:      Date of discovery:

October 08, 1893:  “INYO INDEPENDENT: W. K. MILLER OF LONE PINE returned some days ago from the new placer mining camp 45 miles east of Mojave. In a letter he says: “While there I saw one nugget that was worth over $1000 and a number ranging from $20 to $40. Everything about the mines looks very favorable. About 100 men are at the camp and more are going in every day. I have put on a stage to the mines connecting with the Keeler and Mojave stage line at Red Rock Station, so that parties going from Mojave or Keeler to the mines can go direct without loss of time.” This stage line has proved a great convenience, as before it was established the only way to reach the mines was by private conveyance.” –The Herald
